Grain whisky is without doubt the unsung hero of the whisky industry. It spends most of its time propping up most of the world’s blended whiskies, while the more glamorous malts take the starring role. Well things are going to change when, for one night only, we leave the malt off the bill and let grain whisky take centre stage.
Grain Whisky is a category often overlooked – while most whisky enthusiasts could name at least a handful of malt distilleries, many would struggle to name one or two grain distilleries. Fortunately, we arewelcoming avid collector and grain whisky evangelist Phil Storry to Whisky Squad to set the record straight. He knows everything there is to know about grain whisky and he probably owns at least two bottles of every grain whisky ever worth buying. Phil will be dipping into his vast collection of grains and treating us with some very rare whiskies. Expect some very old and very tasty drams at this unique tasting.
